Note FASRON-7 NoticeNote

Note NOTICE: History ThumbnailCameraServitium "...I have begun the task of compiling my family's history. I have come across your organization's website in my research on information about my father's (Elmer H. Rueter, Jr.) military participation. I am asking for you assistance to verify an "organizational/ship" insignia that was part of some of his personal affects. What I am able to piece together from his military records (and this is a guess on my part) is that the insignia is from the Fleet Aircraft Service Squadron - Seven (FASRON-7), NAS North Island, San Diego, California. He served in that squadron during the Korean War from 1951 to 1953 as an aircraft mechanic. The embroidered patch measures 5 inches by 5 inches as a red, white and blue bull's eye target which has superimposed over it a yellow/tan Naval Aviator's Badge and what appears as a dark blue Liberty Bell? Over the bell is a dark blue scroll with the motto of "Servitium". Your help in confirming my suspicion or not, would be greatly appreciated. If you might also direct me to a website or group in which I may learn more about this ship/organization would be a valued piece to our family history. Thank You!...Martin Rueter mrueter@charter.net..." [28NOV2006]
