I changed rates to AE, went to VR-51 in NAS Glenview, Illinois, and flew as a flight engineer on the C-118. I then returned to regnav and took an asignment in Iceland where I flew the last C-118 in the Navy. I came back to NAS Patuxent River, Maryland to VQ-4 and flew TACAMO for three years. I then did two years at the Naval Aviation Maintenance Office. When Desert Shield was announced I requested a transfer to the USS Midway and managed to make it to Desert Storm. I returned with the ship to Japan and began to prepare the ship for decommissioning. We brought the ship to San Diego where we completed the task and it seemed a good time to retire so I returned to NAMO at Pax and retired as an AEC. 22911 Gunston Dr., Lexington Park, MD. 301-863-5358..."
