Memorial Picture "...CICHOWICZ, Bolish V. "Chick"...My Dad, Bolish V. Cichowicz "Chick," served with VP-27 (Crew 5). He passed away in September 1977. My children never got to know their granddad. Before he died, my Mom would occassionally hear from other members of the crew. I know that they were a very close group. Would like to hear from any of them, if they are still around...Dad didn't talk much about the War, but he did fondly remember his crewmates. I have his log books and some pictures. Dorothy Penkalski penkal@verizon.net..." [21JUL2009]

CIRIACKS, PN2 Ruben James (Ben) ciriacks@vp-22.com "...I came on board VP-22 in late November/early December 1965 as a CTI2 converting to PN2 - just as the squadron was returning from 6 months in the P.I. Personnel office was a mess, with a dozen or more personal files not having been processed for past couple months. Learning everything while creating job descriptions and eliminating the backlog and ramroding the personnel office was one of my most challenging experiences in the Navy. Remember the 6 months in NAS Adak, Alaska with our in barracks movie, beer and snack shop - with all profits spent on color TVs, air conditioners, recreation equipment and a great party at the enlisted men's club at NAS Barbers Point, Hawaii after our return. Especially also remember the last night in NAS Adak, Alaska for us early departees - the ones who made sure we had decent equipment back in Hawaii when the departing and arriving squadrons exchanged spaces in the hangar. Also remember that us servicemen were loved before we left for NAS Adak, Alaska in Jan '67 and almost hated upon our return in Jun '67 - all due to changing attitudes regarding our escalating military envolvement in Vietnam. REMEMBER seeing the 6 day war (Israel) transpire via headlines of the newspapers in the racks at the entrance to the hangar each day. Those were great times..." [17MAY2001]
