REUNION 2008
April 17th thru April 20th, 2008
"Announcement"
Dear Mad Foxes,
The 2008 reunion will be from April 17 thru 20, 2008 in Orange Park, Florida, at the Quality Inn, & Conference Center, 300 N. Park Ave. which is 1/8th mile south of the US17 and I-295 intersection, about 5 minutes from the NAS JAX. It has adequate meeting rooms and a restaurant/bar. There are several restaurants, full service and fast food, chains within close walking distance. The room rates are $45.00 plus tax/per night w/Deluxe Continental Breakfast. Hotel room reservation # (904) 264-1211, please use the Code 2PMJ. This code will ensure that you are getting the correct rate. RV parking is also available at the hotel, no hook-ups.
As usual, we will have festivities on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings. There will be a non-refundable registration fee of $20 per/person in advance or $30.00 per/person at the door. All attendees will get a T-Shirts and a name tag especially made for the reunion. P2 and P3 caps will be available for sale along with extra T-shirts. If anyone has an idea for a design on the shirts, please send it to me. If cancellation is required before T-shirts are ordered, the entire fees will be refunded.
Registrations and meal fees must be paid prior to February 15, 2008 in order to allow enough lead-time to order t-shirts. The cost is $80.00 for single and $150.00 for couple. Send checks to VP-5 Reunion Association, PO Box 7121, Jacksonville, FL 32238 with attached reservations and roster information forms.
There will be door prizes for the following:
1) first registration and meals paid,
2) longest distance traveled,
3) oldest attendee,
4) youngest attendee,
5) longest tour,
6) shortest tour,
7) most crewmembers from same crew and
8) most groundpounder/staff members from same shop/office.
A brief, tentative schedule of events:
The Hospitality Room will open on Wednesday April 16, 16:00 evening, stocked with all your favorite snacks and beverages, hard and soft.
Thursday, April 17, 12:00, check in and registration, 19:00: Poker and Pizza party.
Friday, April 18, 11:30 lunch at NAS Galley, 13:00 scheduled tour of VP-5 spaces, aircraft and trainers.
Check in and registration all day as needed. 18:30 we’ll have a casual pool party with Cubin Sandwiches,
Meatballs in light Salsa, Chicken wings and Fried Calamari Chips and Salsa.
Saturday April 19, 18:30 banquet featuring Roast Beef, Roast Pork, Stuffed Flounder Stuffed Flounder, and/or Salads and a variety of vegetables, deserts and drinks.
In the past we have tried to schedule events like Casino Boat Gambling, deep sea fishing trips, Tours of St Augustine and River Boat Dinners on the St Johns River.
I don’t have an events coordinator so if anyone is interested in these events, get with your friends that are attending and let me know and I will attempt to get what ever you decide on. As for the golfers, let me know and I will get T-times for you at NAS Jax. That seemed to work OK in 2006
