REUNION 2004 April 23-24Contributed by Nick Mulich nicknjax@gmail.com [07AUG2003]Dear Mad Foxes,
The 2004 Reunion is now set in concrete. It will officially be held on April 23 and 24, 2004 in Jacksonville. We have settled on the Holiday Inn on Baymeadows Avenue, which is adjacent to I-95 and about 15 minutes from the base. It has spacious meeting rooms and a restaurant and bar.
There are several restaurants (full service and fast food, chain and local), shopping centers, etc. within close walking distance and there is even a golf course across the street. The room rates are $59.00 per night. When making reservations, please use the Code 2PMF. This will ensure that you are getting the correct rate. RV parking is also available at the hotel, no hook-ups.
As usual, we will have festivities on both Friday and Saturday evenings. There will be a non-refundable registration fee of $20 per/person in advance or $30.00 per/person at the door. All attendees will receive caps, T-Shirts and name tags especially made for the Reunion.
There will be door prizes for the following: 1) First registration paid 2) Longest distance traveled 3) Oldest attendee 4) Youngest attendee 5) Longest tour in the VP-5 6) Shortest tour in VP-5 7) Most crewmembers from same crew 8) Most members from same shop. Registrations fee must be paid prior to January 2, 2004 in order to allow enough lead-time to order caps and T-shirts.

A brief, tentative schedule of events:
WEDNESDAYThe Hospitality Room will open on Wednesday evening and will be stocked with all your favorite snacks and beverages, hard and soft. THURSDAYThursday, April 22, is Check in and registration for early arrivals. FRIDAYOn Friday, April 23, we’ll have Check in and registration all day as needed. In the evening, we’ll have a casual party featuring several tantalizing finger foods. SATURDAYOn Saturday, April 24, we will have a scheduled tour of VP-5 spaces and aircraft. Saturday evening we will conduct a brief business meeting and then have our main banquet featuring Stuffed Flounder, and/or Roast Beef, Salads and a variety of vegetables, deserts and drinks. There are other events that could take place should enough people express an interest. For example, there continues to be the Casino boat rides from Mayport, although no one seemed very interested. There are also many fishing boats located at Mayport that offer deep sea fishing trips, morning, afternoon, or all day. There are also a couple of paddlewheel boats that offer evening dinner trips on the St. John’s River. Excursions like these could be available for those arriving earlier than Friday. However, except for the Casino trips, a minimum number of people are required to schedule the event. There are other activities available also such as a tour of the Busch Brewery, Marineland, the Alligator Farm, etc. Should there be any interest, we can research and arrange to schedule some of these things.
