VP-64 passed the 100,000 mishap-free flight hour mark on 3 Oct 99 during a tactical evolution in the Carribean theatre. The milestone flight was flown by Condor Crew 5.
The Condors recently deployed to the Carribean in support of Counter Narcotics operations, fully integrated with VP-26. At the end of this deployment, the squadron achieved the highest attainable readiness level. This level of readiness has been achieved despite the fiscal constraints placed upon the Reserve Force in recent years. This is another example of the total dedication of the men and women of VP-64 to the Reserve Force mission.

The last antisubmarine warfare (ASW) mission conducted by a Navy P-3A Orion was flown over the Atlantic March 22 by a crew from VP-64, a reserve squadron based at NAS Willow Grove, Pennsylvania, ending an almost 28-year ASW career for the aircraft type.
P-3A BuNo 152158 flew the last mission from NS Rota, Spain where VP-64 was deployed for its annual active duty training. In recognition of the historic event, the aircraft was decorated in VP-64 tail markings with the approval of the Chief of Naval Air Reserve. Unit markings were removed from most patrol aircraft starting in 1986 for operational security.
VP-64 is transitioning to the P-3B along with VP-66 and VP-69, and by September all antisubmarine "Alpha's" will be retired.
