ANDERSON, MAC(NAC) Richard "Steven" steven47132@comcast.net "...I remember AW1 Cecil Hudson, when I first reported to NARU, NAS Memphis, Tennessee. He was one of my initial instructors in my soon to be career as a AW. Under AW1 Hudson's training, and others, I learned and became a Qualified P2 Aircrewman, and designated a Mad Operator. From there and right about the time VP-67 was transiting to P-3's. I requested transfered to SS1/2 training, and was sent to VP-60. I elected to get out when I couldnt get a transfer to a West Coast Location. But within 30 days, Regular Navy recruiters had me re-uping and assigned to VP-46 out of NAS Moffett Field, California where I remained until 1984. During that time I was qualifed as SS1 Crew 7, assigned two tours to CPRW-10 as an instructor. First time was sent, second time was requested by name. Enjoyed my time in P2's flying in the bubble nose, and in P-3A's, B's and C UII's. VP Navy from 1973-1984 and Non Flying Navy 1984-1993. Memorial Picture "...JOHNSTON, AMCS Brian "Pig Farmer"...Brian "Pig Farmer" Johnston was an Airframer extraordinaire and the FE Deluxe. They've only made a couple of those. He flew for VP-64 (twice), VP-67, VP-91, VP-62, RESPATWING, HC-85, and VR-58. He was the most laid-back FE I have ever known, and one of the best friends you could ever want. He died in June, 2005 of natural causes; albeit at a very young age. Brian would lay some FE knowledge on you, and no matter how far behind the power curve you (I) might have been, he would never make you (me) feel stupid. He posessed no ego whatsoever, and once he put on khaki, he never forgot where he came from. True to that credo, he always tried to pull others up to where he was. In every respect, he was a true Chief and Blue Card FE. More importantly, he was a friend. Pig Farmer is sorely missed by all of those who had the opportunity to know him..." PAGE, LCDR E. T. III etpage@cotullaairport.com "...I served in VP-22 from 74-77 (Crew 4 initially, then Crew 12). The people and experiences during these years were the best ever, and enriched my life beyond description. The places we went and the things we did are almost surreal as I look back on them, but we know they really happened and we were a part of history in the making. On the lighter side, I still enjoy remembering back to those "man-eating crabs" on Diego Garcia, as Time magazine described them, and so many other things that the media was so clueless about that we did and experienced on a regular basis. My fondest memories include being a part of Crew 12; what a great crew. What I learned during this tour has served me well throughout my life. After leaving VP-22, I instructed in T-28's in VT-31 (77-78) at NAS Corpus Christi, Texas which was FUN as well as rewarding. Later, I was able to fly in the Reserves (VP-67, NAS Memphis, Tennessee) a few years, but unfortunately I got too busy to stay in. I'm still spending my time managing an airport business in South Texas these days. It would be nice to touch base with former squadron mates if you are so inclined. A heartfelt thank you to all of you, and I hope you are doing well..." [12SEP2013]

Unlike a P-3, it had no air conditioning unless you had the hatches open, and no heat most of the time. Chief Pools used to tell us "Unless it's on fire - stay with the airplane. It'll get you on the ground when others won't." I asked him one time how to be sure there was enough oil in the 3350s. UNGER, Raoul Felix regnu@attbi.com "...Began my Naval career in NAS Olathe, Kansas as a Weekend Warrior. Became an SP2E/H Flight Crew Plane Captain in 1965. I was with what eventually became VP-67 when it moved to NAS Memphis, Tennessee in 1969/1970. I even still have my old VP-67 nametag. I left the squadron around 1970/1971 to go to Costa Rica, C.A. with my Dad. I returned to Florida in 1975, heard about the program at VP-62 and re-afiliated with the Reserves in 1976. I went to VP-30 for FE school and qualified in October 1977. That is when I recalled as a TAR and began my active duty career. I was stationed at VP-62 until 1981, when I transferred to VP-60 in NAS Glenview, Illinois. In 1985 I "moved down the hall" from Cobra country to Lion country and VP-90. In 1992 I returned to Snake country to become a Cobra once again. In 1993 I returned to the Broadarrows of VP-62. Where I was until my health grounded me. I am now stationed at HS-75 and plan to retire in 2000. I also have my own financial services, business funding and mortgage purchasing company. I would enjoy hearing from old friends, esp anyone who knows Kenny Bell...Transferred to the Fleet Reserve Retired List 1 February 2001. Still reside in Jacksonville, FL..."
