AIRCRAFT: VP-93 P-3 BUNO: 151354 "...This picture is of an aircraft from the original batch of P-3A's that VP-93 had at the time of its commisioning. The aircraft is shown flying north over the N.A.F. Detroit facility, on the northwest corner of Selfridge Air National Guard Base, in Mt. Clemens MI. The tail marking is the original squadron logo used prior the initial application of the first of several Executioner designs. Each design became more muscular and menacing. AIRCRAFT: VP-93 P-3 BUNO: 153415 "...VP-93 was a regular guest at the Niagara Falls, New York airshows. These were held on both the International Airport side, and on the Air Reserve/Guard Base, side of the huge facility. In July 85 the Welcoming committee consisted of several Playboy Bunnies from the Buffalo New York club. The bunnies met the crews with refreshments, after they'd taxied their aircraft into position on the Friday setup day. That Saturday July 13th afternoon was marred by trajedy. The Blue Angel solo A-4 aircraft, collided at the top of the now discontinued "HEART" manuever. LT Mike Gerschon was killed instantly while the other pilot ejected with minor injuries. CAC-10 took P-3B, LH-05, Buno # 153446, and flew this aircraft for the entire det period of 8 Jan 94 to 22 Jan 94. We were involved in the continuing effort to blocade refugee boats from leaving Haiti. Photo taken on January 22, 1994 at NS Roosevelt Roads, PR with the temp a humid 90 Deg F.
