As commander of VB-104, a patrol bombing squadron of B-24 "Liberator" aircraft based on Guadalcanal in 1943 and 1944, he led masthead-height bombing attacks on enemy ships. SEASE, AO3 Norm sease@ccountry.net "...I served aboard NATC NAS Patuxent River, Maryland from early 1954 to lae 1955. As an AO3 I flew on three the P2V-4, P2V-5 and P2V-7. Most of our P2's had top and tail turrets installed with 20mm Air Feed Cannons that we tested on stands and in the air. The Air Feeders were very rapid to say the least. The only porblem we incountered were the 20's hammered the tail & bottom stops to near the point of complete failure. In one test I had the bottom stops hurl the guns up so violently before my finger was off the trigger. I expended about 7 rounds of ball ammo into the overhead concrete bunker we were testing in and one round barely missed my Chief! They were great planes and could really take a beating (due manily from very rough landings)..." [23FEB2009]

SEDERQUIST, Carl A. csederquist@questele.com "...I to was an alumni of FASRON-108. I joined the Navy out of high school 1954 (BAngor, Maine). I did boot at Bainbridge, Md and was sent to Norman, OK end of August. From Norman to Millington (Memphis) and AT school in end of December. Finished AT school mid summer 1955 and was shipped to Port Lyautey, Morroco assigned to VR24 as a AT. While in VR24 I became an AT3 and flight time on the Squadron's R5D runs to the eastern Med and throughout Europe, besides maintaining ARC1, ARC5 ART13 and ART27 communications equipment and APX6 transponder. March or April of 1957 I joined FASRON-108 and remained with the Squadron until I got out the end of June 1958. I was one of the early occupants of the new brick barracks. I was also a witness to the VP-26 Mishap that went into the woods on the left side of where the golf course is today. I remember liberty in Portland and Monday early morning returns to make muster. Also remember trying to get a couple of winks behind the sonobouy lockers on horsehair packing material. I got training on APS 28 and the MAD gear while in FASRON-108 was sent to NAS Norfolk, Virginia for this if I recall correctly. I wound up taking advantage of the Korean GI Bill, went back to school and eventually had and still have a carreer in the satellite communications industry (now 37 years). We made alot of whiskey run to bermuda. The bay is full of unopenend big bottles of booz that we had through overboard because customs was waiting for us on the beach.
