NAS Norfolk, Virginia - An aircraft carrier and several squadrons based in Hampton Roads have received efficiency awards from Naval Air Force Atlantic, the Navy said this week.
The Battle "E" award is for readiness and is based on a one-year evaluation. Competition for the award is tough, the Navy said, and the winners must demonstrate the "highest state of battle readiness."
Winners include the aircraft carrier Harry S. Truman, Strike Fighter Squadrons 31 (the Tomcatters) and 83 (the Rampagers), VAQ-140 (the Patriots), VAW-124 (the Bear Aces), Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron 15 (the Red Lions), Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron Light 46 (the Grandmasters), Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 26 (the Chargers), VP-10 (the Red Lancers) and VRC-40 (the Rawhides).
