THOMAS, Vincent (Vince) D. vintho@aol.com "...I was a flight crewmember in VB-141 from September 43 to July 44. I flew in crew #13. My pilots were Morehead and Lemon and Shrader and Albino were the ARM and AMM respectively. Iwas the Turret Gunner and the AOM. I have been searching desperately for years to contact my old squadron members, to no avail. As I recall, I was the youngest (17) member by two years and my hopes are fading pretty fast as I just turned 75. I certainly have a lot to discuss with the othersq. members especially the tragic crash on 12/23/43. Intersting, books and documents have it dtd: the 22 but they are incorrect it occured 0100 on the 23rd. Lets talk guys. Thanks in advance...Anyone who was attached to VPB-141 during WWII (1943/1945) please contact me at your convenience. I was assined to Crew #13 and flew with Herbert L Morehead (pilot), Clinton M Lemon (Co-pilot), Frank J. Albino (Amm2C), and Clyde J. Schrader (Arm2C). Mr. Edward W. Collins was my Co-pilot during the Curacoa, Panama, and NAF Baranquilla, Columbia assignments. I have made contact Wlm. O. Young recently and was thrilled to speak with him. I was 17 at the time and was the youngest flight crew member. I joined VPB-141 in September of 1943 and was transfered in July of 1944. I later served aboard the USS Salerno Bay (CVE-110). I was discharged from the Navy in April 1946. An aside, I joined VB-141 with Harry Rorer and Art Moriondo after attending Code school in San Juan, Puerto Rico. As you may recall, Art went down with crew #2 on 12/23/43. PS: I just turned 75 and I expect to hear from you young "Bucks" soon. Lets reminisce about the old times guys!..."
