 "...I happened to have in my possession an ASW Patrol Squadron 30 (VP-30) brass wall plaque. I knew nothing about it, could not remember where I got it, as I had it for a long time. I somehow fascinated me. I placed it on eBay and it turned out that Nevins Frankel was the high bidder. In our correspondence, I ask him to satisfy my curiousty and tell me about it. He replied with a link to this site, and I am very happy that he did. I was very impressed with what I have seen here, and now I can look upon that insignia with a new understanding and respect. A BIT OF HISTORY: "...143173 was delivered to VP-21 direct from the factory. Became LH-1. On the first flight in the squadron, the life raft emergency release was accidently pulled. The MK-12 life raft dutifully opened it's storage compartment located on the top of the port wing, at the root, and inflated itself! To say the least, there was a minute of sheer hell as the Neptune slow rolled to the port and disgorged the huge 12 man yellow life raft. There were no comments and no search for the raft was made...Bob." sudabay@aol.com
