 The Navy is scheduling the establishment of a Squadron Augment Unit (SAU) attached to VP-30 for 1 October, 2004. Final numbers have yet to be released, but the SAU is likely to total near 150 personnel composed of Officer and Enlisted instructors and maintenance personnel. The SAU has begun recruiting the advance party of 20 maintainers in the AD, AE, AT, AM, and AME rates. If you are interested in serving as a Selected Reservist in VP-30 SAU, have P-3 NEC's and P-3 experience within the last 6 years, and are within drilling distance of NAS Jacksonville, Florida, please call Naval Reserve Recruiting Area SE at 904-542-3320 ext 490 or the SAU OIC at 904-542-0990.
   
NOTICE: "...I would like to contact anyone who flew with Julius Raven (I believe he served with VP-41 of CPW-4) on the day he located our crew of 50 from the Submarine USS S-27 which sank off the S/E coast of Amchitka on 19 June 1942. The day I am referring to is either 24 or 25 June 1942. We had survived in the deserted Aleut village at Constantine Harbor on the N/E section of this island. I understand Raven was lost in early August 1942. I was preparing to contact his co-pilot, when I learned of his name, (Rock Bannister) but he died in 2000. NOTICE: "...I would like to contact Richard W. Schenck. Richard W. Schenck entered the Navy May 28, 1940. Finished Aviation Mach school, NAS Norfolk, Virginia, December 18, 1940. Became a parachute rigger in NAS North Island, San Diego, California February 22, 1942. Joined VP-41 at Tongue Point then headed for the Aleutians. Left the Aleutians October 1943 and finished the war serving in the USS White Plains (CVE-66). I found this biography in boxes of old letters pertaining to my brother's manuscript, "The Flying, Fighting Weathermen of Patrol Wing Four." See postings under Carrigan...Ralph O.
